Basketball going to youth

LOCAL BASKETBALL won’t be waiting for the kids to come to it anymore.
From October, the sport will be taking its product into every parish as part of a National Youth Development programme aimed at teaching and developing children through a series of clinics in the community.
Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) new public relations officer Celia Collymore announced the executive’s development drive during Wednesday’s official partnership launch with sponsors Co-operators General Insurance.
“It will be designed to empower, educate and develop young basketball players to be the best they can be while we prepare them to succeed in life so the programme will be a series of skills-based clinics created to teach the fundamentals of basketball while incorporating life skills,” explained Collymore.
