Hope for cancer patients

CANCER PATIENTS and cancer survivors in Barbados now have the opportunity to gain “hope and inspiration” through The Circle Of Hope group.
The informal group, which was formed on July 10, was established to provide a community for those cancer patients seeking hope. The religious group was launched yesterday through a church service at the South District Nazarene Church, St George.
One of circle’s founding members, Juliette Smith, told the DAILY NATION that the group, which had “no room for atheists”, was not created to provide medications or recommendations” to patients.
“We are a group of friends who came together to give each other hope through Christ who strengthens us. We all have a desire to bring cancer patients together because the majority of the group’s members are people who have been battling cancer,” she said.
“Cancer does not care who its next victim is. Cancer does not look at face, class, colour or creed, and as human beings, no one can conquer this disease alone. The group has only just started, so we don’t have an agenda as to what we will be doing for cancer patients across the island. What we are doing now is offering strength to each other and the group welcomes anyone with any kind of cancer,” Smith said. (AH)
