BNB ST CATHERINE captain Kenroy Williams scored a purposeful 101 not out to pilot his side to a respectable score of 178 for five in response to General Barbados Youth’s first innings of 308 for nine declared.
Williams came to the crease with his side in a desperate position of one run for two wickets and in a jiffy another wicket fell with the score still on one.
He was joined by Derick Bishop and they added a partnership of 45 before Bishop fell to a catch at third-man.
In the meantime, Williams reached his 50 off 81 balls with six boundaries.
After Bishop’s departure, Michael Holder joined his captain and played a restraint innings of 31, while in the process adding a further 105 runs to his team’s innings with his captain.
However, Holder got a delivery that dipped on him and caught him on the back foot when he was given out leg before to Jomel Warrican for 31.
Williams reached his unblemished hundred just before the close of play off 146 deliveries in 188 minutes with nine boundaries.
Earlier, Barbados Youth resumed their innings on 216 for six with their captain Mario Rampersaud on 56 and Ravendra Persaud on one.
This pair frustrated the St Catherine bowlers and took the score to 268 with a partnership of 57 before Persaud fell to Bishop for 22.
Rampersaud, who was eying a century, fell 14 runs short when he edged an ordinary delivery from Chad Puckerin to keeper Steven Grifftith.
Jamal Warrican enjoyed the good batting conditions with a breezy 31, inclusive of two sixes.
