Several stars join Headliners’ orbit

THE STARS have certainly aligned themselves to the Headliners.
The addition of reigning Pic-O-De-Crop monarch Ian Webster, along with Adrian Clarke, Colin Spencer, Smokey Burke, Mandisa and Chrystal Cummins-Beckles – all formerly of All Stars calypso tent – was made public at the tent’s launch yesterday at the Hilton Barbados. They will join Blood, Mikey, Christal Austin, Lorenzo, D2 and Fabee.
The Headliners will pitch tent on June 7 at the Hilton Old Fort.
Tent manager Adrian “Boo” Husbands said the changes were meant to help the tent reposition itself in light of the new Crop Over changes.
“Between 1999 and 2005 Headliners led the way and raised the standard of calypso tents . . . Between 2005 and today, the dynamics of Crop-Over have changed [and] is changing again . . . but rather than being at the pinnacle of the social commentary ladder, we climbed the party monarch and sweet soca monarch ladder,” Husbands said. “Headliners is once again repositioning itself for the new dynamics of Crop Over . . .”
