PARTICIPANTS in the Global Youth Service Day have been told to make their voices heard and not be afraid to challenge the presenters.
This is coming from Shantal Munro-Knight, executive coordinator Caribbean Policy Development Centre, during an address at the National discussion/consultation to facilitate the sensitisation of Barbadian young people on the sustainable development process for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and the post 2015 development agenda.
It was held at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth at Haggatt Hall, St Michael this morning.
Munro-Knight said when the SIDS conference was held in Barbados in 1994, a case was put to have young people involved in the process.
She told the youngsters because the islands were small and vulnerable, it did not mean that they did not have anything to offer.
She told them it was okay to think outside the box.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Maxine McClean, who gave an address, also encouraged the young people to engage all policy makers and stake holders with a view to having their opinions represented at the upcoming SIDS conference. (JS)
