THE ANNUAL Christopher Howitt Tennis Championships resumed Monday with both Moseley brothers reaching the semi-final round.
Older sibling Ryan beat young Dylan Hall easily 6-0, 6-1, while Russell had a similar easy match, defeating Dario Parris 6-1, 6-2.
Ryan now awaits the winner of the Yannick Hooper and Seanon Williams encounter, while Russell will play either Michael Jordan or No. 2 seed Duncan Evanson in his semi-final.
In junior action, Luke Cadoza reached the final of the Boys’ Under-10s with a 8-1 win over Brandon Sumpter and will play Aaron Hayden in the final. Hayden defeated Jaeden Brancker in the other semi with a hard-fought 8-6 victory.
The No. 1 seed in both the Under-12 and Under-14 boys, Andrew Symmonds overcame Yannick Polanen in the Under-12 semi 4-0, 4-1 and will take on Joshua Worme or Gabriel Taylor in the final.
He also had a victory over Gavin Hutchinson in the 14s by the same score.
The tournament was on a hiatus while most of the top juniors were overseas attending the The Eddie Herr International in Bradenton, Florida.
The Christopher Howitt is the third leg of the year-long series The Courtesy Race of Champions where players gain points for each round reached.
The last leg, The BNB Championships, will be played later this month, and the Top 8 men’s open players will serve off for a winner-takes-all cash prize sponsored by Courtesy Garage. (SAT/PR)
