Alfred Greenidge set a trap for a rat, but caught a snake.
On Sunday when he returned home from church with his family, Greenidge, of Venture, St John, discovered a grass snake on a rat trap, located in a spare bedroom.
A discovery which left Greenidge looking for a home for the snake he called “harmless” but one which shook his family.
“When I got home from church with my family we discovered that the trap we set for rodents was occupied by a grass snake. This trap was set in one of four bedrooms which we don’t really use. All we do is change and store clothes in that bedroom,” he explained.
The 56-year-old postman who visited the DAILY NATION yesterday with the relatively long grass snake which wriggled on the trap said he attempted to deliver the snake to a pet shop but was told “it won’t last too long in captivity”!
“I have a daughter who is ten and when she saw the snake she screamed so loud that I had to turn and tell her that ‘Hollywood would pay you a million dollars for that scream.’ To calm her and my wife down, I had to leave home with the snake. (AH)
