Time to talk

MEMBERS OF THE BAR ASSOCIATION will have the ear of Chief Justice Marston Gibson this week as they present recommendations for speeding up the administration of justice, amid concerns that the slow pace is affecting lawyers, clients and the public.
And despite reports  of division in the association over his handling of the matter, president Andrew Pilgrim says he intends to stay focused on what is important – making the court system more efficient.
A group of select members of the council were identified at a meeting a month ago to represent the Bar in its discussions with the Chief Justice.
During that same meeting, some senior members of the association threatened to resign because Pilgrim had met with Gibson days before, without informing the council.
Pilgrim told the DAILY NATION he did not want to comment on the reported divide.
