Corporate tee-time to help needy

Lawyers, doctors, bankers and several business leaders were among golfers making up the 16 teams that contested the inaugural Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity Golf Tournament at the Barbados Golf Club last weekend.
Supported by Hyundai and Courtesy Garage, the event was formally opened by Minister of Health Donville Inniss and staged to raise funds to buy prosthetic limbs.
Team ICBL, comprising Tony Reece, Charles Leacock, Adrian Mayers and Donald Leacock were declared winners at the end of an exciting day. In a competitive outing, three teams finished the tournament on a score of 94 before the winners were decided on the count-back system.
Teams in the four-ball competition were backed by Duty Free Caribbean, Collins Limited, Ernst & Young, Hyundai and Courtesy Garage, KPMG, Biomedical International, CGM Gallagher, Novartis, ICBL, Brydens-Stokes, CGI, Lynch Brokers, Anthony and Daphne Earlam, Xstrata Nickel International, First Caribbean and the Barbados Light and Power.
Mr Inniss thanked corporate Barbados for supporting the venture.
A hole-in-one prize of a brand new Hyundai Tucson, sponsored by Courtesy Garage, was up for grabs on the 10th hole but no golfer was able to claim the prize.
Barbados player Judd Cozier took the prize for the longest drive, a 280-yard tee-shot on the 17th hole while Kim Toppin was the winner of the closest to-the-pin prize. (PR)
