New BAMC proposal coming

AFTER TWO AND a half hours of discussion yesterday with a Barbados Workers’ Union team led by general secretary Sir Roy Trotman, the Barbados Agricultural Management Company (BAMC) has agreed to submit a new proposal to resolve the controversy surrounding sugar workers by today.
The move followed reports that the BAMC was terminating the services of several sugar workers.
In a Press release last Friday, the Opposition Barbados Labour Party had expressed its displeasure with what it said was “the termination of more than 100 employees at Andrews Factory and the putting on pause of workers at Portvale for six weeks . . . from June 25 until August 12, 2013”. (AH)
