Jackson upsets Jade

Ariel Jackson sounded the warning two weeks ago and last night at the National Stadium, she executed an outstanding come-from-behind run to win her first ever senior national title in the women’s 200 metres at the National Championships.
Jackson clocked a personal best 23.48 seconds to beat the last two champions Shakera Reece and Jade Bailey who were third and second, respectively, in 23.91 and 23.63.
It seemed like Bailey was going to win both titles this year after blowing out of the turn and passing Reece. But in her trademark style, Jackson’s determination kicked in and the spectators ran up and down in the stands, some shouting in utter shock, as she passed Bailey steps from the finish.
It was a season’s best for Bailey who also met the qualifying standard for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Senior Championships.
