A LOCAL DEVELOPER has invested just over $60 000 with the aim of helping to revive the island’s anaemic construction industry.
David Campion, managing director of Argo Development Studio, told a group of engineers, architects, interior designers and other industry players that the time was “perfect” for his new design and development management company. He said that it was poised to provide “world-class” service while offering opportunities for those in the industry to operate.
He made the comments earlier this month during the official launch of the company and its website and social media platform at its Hythe House, Welches, Christ Church location.
“Just mingling earlier someone said to me . . . . ‘you got be crazy starting a business in this economy’, but actually the time for Argo is perfect because it is about providing cost certainty for clients and cost control and offer exceptional value for money,” Campion said.
Argo, which “assembles and leads” teams of industry experts tailored to each client’s projects, officially started about seven weeks ago and directly employs four people.
Campion explained to the BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY that his company would be working with real estate agents in identifying potential development sites and doing development appraisals and sending them to a number of investors around the world “to encourage them to take the opportunity to invest and deliver projects in Barbados”.
“We know there are a number of international investment companies looking very closely at Barbados, they just need the right projects,” he said.
“When we start assembling our teams we will be bringing on architects, quantity surveyors, engineers and interior designers and main contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers. And the talent is here on the island,” added Campion. (MM)
