The big-ups didn’t escape. The axe came down on several top managers and at least one critical service of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) on Thursday, as the retrenchment process hit home hard at the state-owned utility company.
Among those who were sent home were Rapid Response Division and communications manager Joy-Ann Haigh, director of projects Wayne Richards, procurement specialist Gregory Gaskin, as well as financial controller Lorna Mascoll.
It is understood that 15 of the 23 workers in the Rapid Response Unit, or what was known as the tanker service, were terminated and the section dismantled.
Reliable sources stated that some of them were recently informed of their dismissals via the “grapevine” and telephone communications but on Thursday they were called to meet with the BWA’s management separately to be handed their retrenchment letters. (SDB Media)
