Fredericks hoping to inspirfe

Frankie Fredericks of Namibia will deliver the feature address at the National Sports Council’s (NSC) Awards Ceremony at Frank Collymore Hall today with the hope that his life story will motivate at least one Barbadian athlete to achieve greatness.
Fredericks, who won 100 and 200 metres silver medals in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, arrived in the island yesterday. He was met by NSC director Erskine King and general secretary of the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA), Erskine Simmons.
Following a brief tour of the BOA’s headquarters in Wildey, St Michael, Fredericks told the SATURDAY SUN that today he would tell the athletes of his humble beginnings and that he was able to achieve success in life through sports.
“I am hoping that my life story will serve as motivation for at least one person,” he said.
