Students get glimpse into careers

Students of the St Matthew’s Primary School are now in a better position to make career choices thanks to their parents.
Today, the school hosted a career showcase, with parents and old scholars manning booths depicting their various professions, sharing information with the children.
“The reason for involving the parents is because we want the children to see what their parents do when they drop them off at school, children see parents with money at the end of the month but they do not appreciate the jobs that their parents do and what the job entails on a daily basis,” principal Pauline Franklyn said.
The career day showcased police officers, morticians, prison guards, electricians, cosmetologists, bankers, and the legal profession, among others.
The children were also dressed up in the uniforms associated with the careers they hoped to pursue. (LK)
