KENROY WILLIAMS gave further proof that the balance of power in the St Catherine attack has shifted from fast bowling to spin, when he almost single-handedly bowled his side to maximum bowling points against Dover.
The St Catherine captain cleverly bowled his off-spin, collecting six wickets for 54 runs from 20.3 overs, as Dover, sent in to bat, were dismissed for 145 in their first innings about an hour and 20 minutes before the scheduled close.
Jamal Phillips, bowling his version of flighty off-spin, then helped the visitors hit back late, when he removed openers Micah St Hill for 24 and Chad Proverbs for 17 in the last ten minutes to leave St. Catherine 47 for two when stumps were drawn.
Williams, however, was the Player-Of-The-Day, after he snared the scalps of Phillips for eight, opener Shanaldo Taylor for 25, as well as veterans Wilbur Bruce for 14, and Litchfield Kirton for a duck in the space of 26 balls to send Dover sliding to 92 for six at tea.
After the break, Williams returned to collect two of the last four wickets, but former Barbados all-rounder Vibert Greene led a rearguard with the top score of 40 not out to bring some respectability to Dover’s total.
Left-arm spinner Derick Bishop, the other half of the St Catherine spin twins, took two for 19 from 14 overs, including seven straight maidens, to support Williams.
