LIFE HAS BECOME a nightmare for a St Michael mother who wants her 11-year-old daughter transferred from a school where she was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy.
The unemployed woman told the SATURDAY SUN that her daughter and the boy, who has been charged by police, are attending the same secondary school where the incident reportedly took place in February.
The woman said she had been trying to get a transfer since April when she first became aware of the incident.
She recalled that on February 3, her daughter did come home complaining of stomach and vaginal pains.
She said her daughter was afraid to tell her because she had been threatened by the boy.
The mother said she cannot sleep at night and during the day she is concerned about her daughter’s safety at school.
Police have confirmed that a report was made to them, and a schoolboy has been charged and is on bail.
“I don’t understand why my daughter should have to stay at that school. She is attending three counsellors because of this. Why is it that I cannot have her transferred if he is still going to school there? It is wrecking my nerves,” she told the SATURDAY SUN.
The parent said she had gone to the Child Care Board and the Ministry of Education in an attempt to have the matter settled but is yet to get a positive answer.
“This is not fair to her. How can it be fair that she has to stay at the school and face him all the time.
“Come September the police will have to lock me up because my daughter will not be going back to school there. I want her transferred. It is her best interest and in mine,” she stated.
Attempts to reach the headmaster of the school for comment proved futile. (CT)
