BARBADOS’ blind cricket team and their regional counterparts will start battle for supremacy tomorrow in the annual Regional Blind Cricket Tournament, which precedes the eagerly anticipated West Indies versus Australia International series.
Both tournaments are being hosted by the Barbados Blind Cricket Association (BBCA), which stepped in to save this year’s regional tournament after the original hosts, the Windward Islands, pulled out.
The other teams participating in the regional tournament are defending champions Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, while the organisers still await word from Guyana, who had indicated their intention to compete.
The regional tournament starts with the official opening ceremony at Kensington Oval at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, while the tournament bowls off the following day and concludes on June 13.
Teams will then be engaged in a Twenty20 knockout competition for the Philip Herrele Trophy starting 9.30 a.m. on Saturday, June 12 at the 3Ws Oval, University of the West Indies.
The Australian team was scheduled to arrive in Barbados yesterday for the international 40-over series against a West Indies select team.
