While it is true that Barbados is still very much a secured country, the level of crime in recent times is unacceptable, says Roman Catholic priest Monsignor Vincent Blackett.
Speaking to a gathering in Independence Square yesterday after a Walk For Peace organized by the family of the two men shot and killed in Salters, St George, on August 2, Blackett pointed out that the spate of crimes had indicated a need for everybody in society to work together to bring it to a halt.
The priest called on all Barbadians to respect the laws of the land and to respect each other’s dignity.
“Each time I look at another person, I must see my brother or my sister. I must see that person with a dignity that I am called to respect. And anything at all that would threaten that dignity is sinful and must be condemned in the strongest way.”
