THE National Cultural Foundation NCF) is under fire over the exclusion of spoken word artiste Adrian Greene from the line-up of performers for the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) Gala.
Greene was the only Gold Award winner in the drama and speech category this year.
He said: “When I saw the advertisements for the gala, my name was not mentioned,” adding that he understood that it was the norm for Gold recipients to perform at the gala.
Jennifer Walker, a regular participant at NIFCA, said she was sorely disappointed that Greene would not be participating in the gala this year. “I have seen him win silver on three occasions and perform at the gala. Why not in his golden year?” she queried.
Corporate communication specialist with the NCF, Wayne Simmons, explained that the rules stated that “participants may be selected to perform”, but they did not specify that all Gold winners would automatically be chosen.
“There is a selection process,” noted Simmons.
