I’m Sorry

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler last night issued a public apology to June Fowler, for whom he got a public tongue-lashing over his description of her on a political platform a few days ago.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters last night in Deacons Farm, St Michael, the heart of the constituency he is contesting, Sinckler said his comments about the chairman of the Barbados Investors and Policyholders Association (BIPA) were not against her personally, but against the point she had made which, in his view, sought to impugn his integrity and imply that he was trying to deliberately mislead the public of Barbados on the contentious issue of CLICO.
“However, I have a wife and I got children too, girl children, and so I feel that it is incumbent on me to withdraw my comments and to issue an apology to her sincerely,” Sinckler told the cheering audience in The Farm Housing Area.
“I apologize to her, her husband, her family and the members of her organization. I sincerely apologize. I should not have said it. I got a little upset and I felt justified in my being upset, but you still have to be charitable to people,” he stated.
