THE STUDENTS of Leacock’s Private School Inc. were in the spotlight yesterday when they received the opportunity to showcase some of their work to the public.
Parents, guardians and well-wishers gathered at the Farm Road, St Peter school to view and commend the students on the work they would have produced for the school year so far.
Principal and founder of the school, Sybil Leacock, told the DAILY NATION she was very pleased with her students’ overall performance.
“I am very pleased because I display a positive attitude and I tell them, ‘My children, when you come through these gates, the wind blows differently than it blows anywhere else’ . . . my students are disciplined.”
When asked to comment on the impact the current economic climate was having on her school, the 82-year-old said her schools’ numbers were steady.
“In keeping with our health rules and our given capacity we always keep 100 plus students. It’s a family school also; you get grandparents, uncles and aunts saying, ‘I went to Leacock’s, you must go there’. We have like five generations at this school,” she said. (AH)
