THE BARBADOS MANUFACTURERS’ Exhibition (BMEX) is a good place for youth to grasp opportunities and release their “creative flow”, says Minister of Education Ronald Jones.
He made the comment yesterday at a prize-giving ceremony for schools which took part in the BMEX schools competition, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
“It is good to see schools working every year with the BMA to be part of this showcase, this creative outflow of talents of Barbadian people. To have the young ones at such an early age showcasing their talents is quite good,” he said.
Jones said it was not a matter of having a high IQ but of applying oneself and having the dedication and determination to succeed, adding that there was a future for the youth who continued along this path.
One such young man was Jabarry Barnes, who represented St Leonard’s Boys’ School in receiving the top prize for secondary schools. Afterwards, the barber showcased his skills by giving Jones a “round-up”. (CA)
