VENDORS WHO HAVE to quit operating in the Fairchild Street Market compound have complained about being notified late and not being given alternative accommodation.
They made their concerns known yesterday, their last day operating in the area, ahead of the planned demolition of the long condemned public market.
While workmen from the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) were cutting wood to complete the hoarding, vendors were venting that they were told they had to move only a few days ago, which left them little or no time to make adjustments.
Snack shop operator Judy Husbands said the sudden development left her depressed and uncertain about the future.
