Government’s decision to stop paying tuition fees at the University of the West Indies (UWI) could force students to take their education more seriously.
On the other hand, it could also prevent those willing to do the work but unable to pay from getting a university education.
Those were the range of views from students at the Cave Hill Campus who attended yesterday’s Orientation Fair, as at least one financial institution with an exhibition on the grounds reporting an increased interest by students looking for funding options.
Jewel Brewster and Nikita Stuart told the WEEKEND NATION they were striving to make their parents’ money count and believed others should do the same.
Fees will weed out ‘limers’
