PM tells banks:  Back hotels

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart wants banks to give more support to the hotel sector.
He said it did not make sense for banks to “find lending people money to buy motor cars”, a more serious investment than “investment in a sector that leads the Barbados economy” and which earns the foreign exchange on which the country depended.
The willingness to invest in the hotel sector was raised informally with Stuart as he toured Ocean Two Resort and Residences, a Dover, Christ Church hotel Friday.
Speaking to the media afterwards, the Prime Minister said investment in hotel plant was one of the critical factors to sustaining the tourism industry, observing this was one of the reasons for the success of the hotel which has continued to maintain good occupancy levels.
