Credit union: No loan fall-off

DEBT CONSOLIDATION and refinancing are among the most sought after services offered by the Six Roads branch of the Barbados Public Workers Co-operative Credit Union Ltd.
“People are still borrowing; what I can say is we have not seen a fall-off here. We generally have 100 applications a month at this branch over the counter as well as appointments and that has not changed.
“[The loans are] primarily for debt consolidation so if people are consolidating their debt in one loan payment, it’s good and it’s good for the organization as well,” said acting branch manager Tracia Sargeant, adding that people were also seeking back-to-school loans at this time.
Sargeant, a credit underwriter, was speaking to the SUNDAY SUN yesterday during the credit union’s customer appreciation day, which featured a clown, the Zu Photobooth and body art.
