Not good for the field!

APPARENTLY NOT EVERY SURFACE at the National Stadium is ready for use.
A source close to the redevelopment of the Waterford venue is knocking the National Sports Council (NSC) for allowing football to be played there from next month and suggested the new field would not be able to handle the heavy traffic so quickly.
The criticism comes in light of the recent announcement that the LIME Pelican Football Challenge will be staged at the National Stadium from September 15.
“Having triple headers three days a week is not enough time for the grass there to re-establish itself in the damaged areas and over a period of time. Because the grass is young, it will kill off those areas because it won’t be able to handle the traffic,” said the source, who wished to remain anonymous.
