’TIS THE SEASON to be jolly. ’Tis also the season to stuff your face with great cake, ham, turkey and sorrel and Barbadians are not “making sport” when it comes to snapping up the traditional Christmas foods.
At the Hanschell Inniss Sales Centre and other ham retailers, long lines of shoppers are filling up their carts with the season’s favourite meat.
Hanschell Inniss general manager Gareth Narinesingh said we had not seen anything yet.
“So far things have not really escalated. The foot traffic is busy but not Christmas busy so I expect . . . it will get [really] busy,” he said.
Sales centre manager Martin Deane said Government workers had been paid later this year so the “mad scramble” had not started yet.
The Harmony family will certainly be enjoying ham this Christmas as they had more than ten picnic hams in their cart. They said it was for family, friends and anyone else.
