Sales pick up

Some store managers are reporting that business is picking up and are optimistic about the six shopping days left before Christmas.
“We are expecting a strong finish going into the last week of Christmas,” Eddie Abed, managing director of Abed’s on Swan Street in The City, told the DAILY NATION.
He acknowledged, however, that sales were down by two and a half per cent when compared to last year.
“Our buyers this year have done a good job in identifying the right products at the right pricing, and hopefully we will be rewarded.
“People are value driven as opposed to commodity driven. If you perceive that what you have is value and of good quality and current styling, that is what people are interested in and I think that’s the best way I can describe sales for us,” said Abed, noting his store would be opening on Sundays for the rest of the year.
