Jamming at Christmas Jazz

Thousands turned up at Ilaro Court, Two Mile Hill, St Michael for last night’s Sagicor Christmas Jazz produced by Deryck Walcott.
And what a show it was!
Gerald Albright more than delivered, as did Marcus Miller, Kirk Whalum and Christian Scott. The most welcome surprise performance came from soloist Shelea Frazier, whose melodic rendition of This Christmas brought the show to a close.
The tenth anniversary event was held for the first time at Ilaro Court, the resident of the Prime Minister of Barbados.
The evening’s show-stopper came by way of four jazz unknowns – teenagers plucked from the audience who were invited on stage to jam with the greats.
The night featured traditional Christmas songs in a very non-traditional fashion.  Musical improvisations and experimentation were the order of the evening, as Albright and company let the music prance around the grounds, weave its way through the trees to fill every nook and cranny at Two Mile Hill.
