ATERCOLOURS, oils, charcoal paintings and sculptures in various forms by local and overseas artists were recently placed in the spotlight by artist Marilda Weatherhead.
The displays were held at Frangipani Art Studio, in Maynard’s St. Peter, where art lovers and critics soaked in the beauty of these skilfully created designs.
Within hours of the start of the cocktail evening and art show, many exotic pieces of art were purchased.
Quite a number of them depicted various aspects of Caribbean life – such as the creole girl, the grandfather and his son, the vendor, Caribbean plant and tree life, chattel houses, beach scenes, sea life, and paintings which spoke of the early lifestyles of Caribbean people.
Artists chatted freely with art lovers and other guests, explaining in some instances, the thoughts behind their creations. (CH).
