SOULFUL BALLADS OF THE past transported the audience of the Sea Rocks Dome to a blissful yet turbulent time of African-American music, as Mary Wilson stirred up some “stormy weather” last Thursday evening.
Taking on the music and mystery of the legendary Lena Horne, the musical adventure began with Wilson in a fiery red number, belting out the popular Lady Is A Tramp.
With multiple hair and wardrobe changes, the former Supreme dazzled and delighted in the close to two-hour set, telling of the joys, frustrations and sorrows of the late performer.
As Long as I Live and You Are Love from Showboat, and Yesterday When I Was Young and of course, Stormy Weather, were just a few of the exquisitely executed songs Wilson performed.
