Flight Kitchen captured the inaugural Grantley Adams International Airport Twenty20 Night Cricket Tapeball Tournament with a heart-stopping one-run win over Caribbean Aircraft Handling (CAH) Ramp at the Rices ground, St Philip, on Thursday.
Playing in front a crowd of more than 1 000, Flight Kitchen reached a challenging total of 165-7 with contributions coming from Dayne Doughty, who made 39 from 25 balls, Aaron Jones (35) and Kenroy Williams (22).
Extras also contributed a sizeable 46.
Doughty then delivered a good final over which denied CAH Ramp victory after an opening stand of 102 in 12 overs appeared to have set them on their way.  They finished on 164-7.
The century parnership between Amory Holder and Oswell Hoyte had put the heat on Flight Kitchen’s fans.
Holder lived a charmed life, blasting five sixes and two fours in making 58 off 45 balls, before he was caught going for another big hit.
CAH?Ramp faltered at the very end as Doughty, with his lengthy run-up and strutting sprint added to the tension to hold a tight line and deny the four needed off the last ball. (KB)
