Rejoicing in The City

Bridgetown was alive with rejoicing Saturday as various church groups came together to sing praises to God and share peace and love.
Organizer June Fowler said the idea was to bring life back to The City.
“I put together a team to host an event titled Bridgetown Alive With Praise And Worship. We got permission from the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry to use the Bridgetown Alive! theme as we thought it fit well.
“We wanted to bring a level of hope back to The City what with all the bad news – Barbados facing an uphill battle in terms of its economic recovery and the moral fabric of society being fragile at best,” she said.
The worship and praise session took the form of a parade through The City. It started at Independence Square and covered Wharf Road, Hincks Street, Prince Alfred Street, Broad Street, Bridge Street, Probyn Street, Lower Bay Street, and back to Independence Square.
The participants were asked to wear white T-Shirts and carried colourful flags and banners. Groups taking part included the Praise Academy of Dance, Trinity Outreach Ministries International, Restoration Ministries, the Wesleyan Holiness Church and Sanctuary Empowerment Ministry. (CA)
