THE ST JOHN POLYCLINIC, which has been beset by delays, has been given a new completion deadline of “early 2014”, although no month has been specified by Minister of Health John Boyce.
However, it is unclear when a new general hospital to replace the ailing Queen Elizabeth Hospital might be forthcoming.
Boyce gave this report on the island’s health sector during a Press conference yesterday at the Winston Scott Polyclinic.
“We have obviously got to go back to Parliament for a supplementary to complete the works [on the St John facility], and the objective is to have that sorted before [the Christmas recess],” he said at the briefing, which followed a tour of the Vashti Inniss Empowerment Centre, the Children’s Development Centre and the Ladymeade Reference Unit.
