BARBADOS’ IMMUNISATION PROGRAMME has earned a top Caribbean prize.
Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Elizabeth Ferdinand revealed yesterday that Barbados took home the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) immunization shield for this year during a meeting in Jamaica last week.
This comes on the heels of news that the Ministry of Health was embarking on a roll-out of the human papilloma virus vaccine in January.
“The shield moves around to the country with the best EPI (expanded programme on immunization) surveillance,” she said at a Press conference at the Winston Scott Polyclinic to discuss Minister of Health John Boyce’s visits to several health institutions in the area.
