THE MISS Intercontinental Pageant in Berlin, Germany, is well underway and Barbadian delegate Shontonia Hall is already getting her feet wet as the swimsuit competition started Tuesday.
Over 60 girls from all over the world donned their two-piece bikinis and posed for guest judge Dr Bulent Emekci, chairman of Emmi Dent and Emmi Nail.
Celebrating its 42nd year in operation, president of the World Beauty Organization in Panama, Luis Pitti Sagrera boasted: “In today’s world there can be no better programme than one that not only brings beauty but creates a platform by which people from all countries and all walks of life can come together.
“Regardless of what part of the world a delegate comes from people have their dreams and through this organization, these dreams can now become a reality,” Sagrera said.
Pageant director Detlef Tursies agreed as he extended a warm welcome to the contestants.
“Each delegate is a special person with her own unique interests and aspirations,” he said to the international press gathered at the Holiday Inn, Berlin.
“We trust that each young girl will leave with great memories, new friendships and an enriching experience.”
This is not the first time the pageant has been hosted in Germany and contestants will have a chance to visit over four cities, ending in Magdeburg for the final show on December 14. (MF)
