QC finally off the mark

IT TOOK THREE GAMES and then some more before QC got off the mark.
Point guard Ashlee Daniel had a game-high 21 points, including the go-ahead basket in overtime as Queen’s College finally got their first win of the WIBSICO School Girls basketball season via Monday’s 34-30 extra time win over Combermere at Husbands.
It was the first setback for the previously unbeaten Waterford side, who won their first two games of the season before travelling to Husbands. And they looked on course for a third after taking a 16-7 halftime lead on the then winless hosts.
But QC stormed back to force overtime on the back of Daniel’s heroics before the gifted floor general put the home side up to stay for good. Christina Yearwood led the visitors with 14 points while Winmarie Bowen added ten. (JM)
