Duguid promises better roads

Concrete roads may be more durable but they are much too costly, according to Minister of Transport, Works and Maintenance Dr William Duguid.

“They are more expensive and if you ever had to dig it up to do waterworks and so on, it would be difficult because it is much harder to dig up and repair,” he said on Tuesday during a tour of St George South to look at roads in need of repairs.

He was accompanied by Member of Parliament Dwight Sutherland, and other officials.

While he could not provide a figure as to how much it might cost to build concrete roads, Duguid indicated that the price of the materials to build one had decreased, but the process would still be more expensive than using asphalt. (SB)
