Residents of the Joe’s River St Joseph area are pleased with the shuttle service which began yesterday.
The shuttle service for people affected by the closure of the Joe’s River Bridge operates from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
The shuttle will travel between Bathsheba and Joe’s River Bridge turning by the current turning point at Joe’s River Junction.
As a result of the implementation of the shuttle service, all Bathsheba services daily (except on Sundays) from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. will be required to turn by the doctor’s office at Joe’s River.
Transfer tickets will be issued to passengers using the Bathsheba bus and the shuttle service to facilitate travel in both directions.
One resident said: “This system should have been in place from the time there were problems with the bridge. There were two town hall meetings and the head of the Transport Board did not show up. They took too long to come to our aid.”
He added that when the road first collapsed and the temporary one built, residents were told it would be covered in seven days. However it was not yet covered.
“Anyway, we are happy because this system is better for us than having to go all the way around.” (LK)
