THE BLIND shall lead! That was the case when the Barbados Bodybuilding Classic was held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday night with Greg Rando of the United States standing out like a beacon. He won the men’s Pro Universe title from a field of 11 contestants, showcasing his physical development and overall sharpness.Local boy William Morris surprised everyone after coming out of retirement to win the Men’s Masters. Easily the most defined competitor of the evening, Morris was in fantastic form, displaying good size, with magnificent muscularity.Steve Subcleff of the United States won the men’s pro lightweight title and compatriot Toni West was the women’s pro bodybuilding queen, forcing Barbadian Valerie Worrell to settle for second place.Another American, Candice McField, triumphed in the women’s pro figure contest.  Some of bodybuilding’s most revered competitors were in the audience, including Harcourt Skinner, who was third at the 1978 Mr Universe and 1990 light heavyweight bronze medallist, Albert Scantlebury. Also there were Mr Universe finalist and former CAC champion Loftus Roach; former heavyweight winner Roger Sealy; the 1989 Middleweight World champion, Bernard Sealy and the inaugural Junior CAC champion, Clavis Springer. It was an emotional night for two-time Mr Universe winner Earl Maynard, who  was honoured for his outstanding contribution to bodybuilding and fitness from the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation and the International Natural Bodybuilding Federation.
