Vincy Warriors tame Lions

CELEBRATIONS marking St Vincent and the Grenadines’ 39th Independence anniversary celebrations spilled over onto the Weymouth playing field late into the night on Saturday when the Vincy Warriors cricket team defeated the Starcom Network/Nation Publishing Conquering Lions in a Twenty20 tapeball “grudge” match.

Hundreds of Vincentians living in this country and their supporters poured onto the field at the Police Sports Club after their countrymen completed victory by six wickets with 5.4 overs remaining in front of more than 5 000 spectators.

The Vincy victory brought the Lions’ unbeaten streak (of three years) to a purring end.
