Fashion designer Daisy Lyn Ward spills her secret

How would you define your personal style?
My style is comfortable and flirty. I’m an island girl, so I dress to suit but also to stand out.

Do you find that you follow fashion trends or do you play by your own rules?
Oh, I play by my rules. I love to show my personality in what I wear, not follow a trend and look like a clone.

Has your fashion sense changed over the years or has it remained the same?
It’s definitely changed and it’s always evolving.

Are there any colours that you tend to shy away from and if so, why?
I find I stay away from reds – it’s just not one of my favourite colours but if I have to wear it, I’ll make it work!

As a child, were you always into clothes or did you grow into your fashion sense?
Not at all! I was a little tomboy, T-shirts and shorts. I had the occasional dress I liked but definitely grew into my fashion sense starting in my teens.

How does your day-to-day life factor into your wardrobe choices?
Really depends on what I have to do that day, but guaranteed it will be comfortable with a fun twist.

Are there any designers you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?
I really like to see Simon Peter designs; love how they capture the Caribbean feel.

Four things every woman should have in her closet
1A dress that can be dressed up or down
2  A nice blazer
3  A pair of great-fitting jeans
4  A Pink Lemonade design
