Man accused of shooting coconut vendor remanded

A man has been charged in connection with last Sunday’s shooting of a coconut vendor near the Top Rock roundabout in Christ Church has been remanded to HMP Dodds.

Timeko Teriq Layne, of Block 11C, Wotton Terrace, Christ Church, who was represented by attorney Rasheed Belgrave, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounded Shamar Toby on October 21 with intent to maim, disfigure, and disable him.

The 20-year-old student was not required to plead to the indictable offence when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in Criminal Court No. 1 of the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

He returns to court on November 21.(RA)
