A NEW PRAYER book for all occasions is now available in Barbados.
Spearheaded by the prayer group at St David’s Anglican Church, the original purpose of Prayers From Barbados was to offer prayers for one of their departed sisters, Grace Norma Alleyne
Contributions were also made by other denominations.
Spokesman for the group, Anne Straker, said they were encouraged to write the book by Marjorie Davis, who is also a member. Straker said proceeds from the book would go towards helping needy children.
Lone male contributor, Canon Noel Burke, rector of St David’s Church, said he was excited that the group of Christian women had come up  with the idea.
“We are tremendously of the view that the book could have tremendous value to persons visiting Barbados, so there is a sense that it could be a part of our own tourist product,” Burke said.
Archbishop of the West Indies and Bishop of Barbados Dr John Holder, to whom a book was presented at his Mandeville House, Henry’s Lane, Lower Collymore Rock, St Michael office yesterday, commended Burke and  the group on the project.
“I’m going to recommend it to the Province, and see if we can get some copies out to the other dioceses,” Holder said.
