Many Barbadians are walking around with a master’s degree and have no idea what to do while on the job.
This assessment has come from human resource consultant Brenda Evelyn, who warned employers to “be careful” when hiring.
Her comments came while delivering the feature address at the third quarterly Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited’s corporate and commercial customer breakfast seminar at Hilton Barbados yesterday. Evelyn was speaking about employees’ and employers’ obligations under the Employment Rights Act.
She said it was critical for employers to hire competent individuals so as to avoid mishaps that could land them in the law courts. (MM)
