A fluent unbeaten knock by captain Kraigg Brathwaite complemented a rout by the fast bowlers to place the Sagicor High Performance Centre in a position of command over Bangladesh ‘A’ after two days of their first four-day match.
After pacers Carlos Brathwaite (4-45), Miguel Cummins (3-25), Sheldon Cottrell (2-29) and Jonathan Carter (1-36) fired out the visitors in 41.4 overs for 140 in reply to 292 all out on the first day HPC cruised to 170 for two in their second innings, a lead of 322.
Brathwaite’s positive strokeplay was a revelation as he rebounded from a first innings “duck” to compile 96 not out that contained 10 fours and a six over long on which took him to 50 off 73 balls.
He and and Guyanese Assad Fudadin put on 79 for the first wicket after HPC took a formidable lead of 152 on first innings and although first innings century-maker Jermaine Blackwood fell for a two-ball duck, Leon Johnson (40 not out) helped his skipper add 90 by the close.
