NINETEEN PEOPLE GRADUATED from the Young Men’s Christian Association ballroom club in the beginners category recently.
Outgoing Lancelot Cozier said the club was a pioneer of ballroom dancing in Barbados , having been in existence since 1971.
“The majority of the seasoned instructors who ply their trade in Barbados can trace some part of their origin to this humble institution and tonight we are here to attest to the accomplishments of our latest group of beginners,” he said.
The graduands were given their scrolls and invited to formally join the club.
Featured speaker David Norgrove gave a brief history of the YMCA which was established in Barbados in 1880 with the aim of “developing young people and it’s intention was to develop the spiritual, social, physical , mental and the intellectual well being of the individual and a holistic development  of young people.”  (RL)
