TWO THOUSAND BRAZILIANS descended on Barbados this morning, hours after arriving on the cruise ship MSC Divina
The Italian ship cruises the northern Caribbean weekly  but  is doing a special crossing this week, sailing south from  Miami to Brazil with many of the Brazilians on board going home for next month’s football World Cup.
Captain Pier Paolo Scala said though Barbados was not on the ship’s regular itinerary, with new ships being built by the company,  it was likely that an MSC ship could be docking at the Bridgetown port in the future as part of its regular schedule.
In a brief ceremony the Captain exchanged plaques with local tourism and shipping officials and with a representative of the ship’s local agents, Goddards Shipping and Tours Limited. (GC)
